Cairo says the deadly giant ship has finally been freed from the Suez Canal following a nearly weeklong blockade.
The 400m-long (1,300ft) At any point Given was wedged across the trench before rescue groups ousted her on Monday. It was not quickly clear when full traffic could continue in the waterway. Suez is one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, and organizations had to reroute ships, causing long running backs of many vessels. Peter Berdowski, Chief of Dutch rescue organization Boskalis, said the Consistently Given had been refloated at 15:05 (13:05 GMT) on Monday, "in this way making free section through the Suez Waterway conceivable again".The vessel was towed to an area outside the channel for additional assessment. To refloat the 224,000-ton vessel, roughly 30,000 cubic meters of sand was dug and a sum of eleven harbor pulls and two incredible seagoing pulls were conveyed, as indicated by Boskalis. Egyptian television film showed the boat adjusted in a straight situation along the waterway.
